Our Story

Apartments Mathraki Resort started operating in 1979 with a small unit of 2 apartments. Owners George and Maria Argyros lived in New York and were working in Manhattan diners. When they returned to Corfu they had only one thing in mind: to create a job that would keep them there for good. The business got expanded with 22 more apartments, a swimming pool and a mill. In 2019 another 2 apartments and 2 Maisonettes were built. And in 2022 a cellar themed apartment was added to the resort. The Tavern Adding the tavern, brought George and Maria back to the job they love most: cooking! Our menu includes local and international dishes, prepared home-style and served as for our own family. Mathraki Island The name ‘Mathraki’ comes from a small and secluded island North-West of Corfu. It’s a quiet paradise with beautiful views and home to the Argyros family. The permanent population is less than 100 people with younger generations mostly residing in Corfu and in New York. If you would like to visit Mathrski, the boat trip from Agios Stefenos port will take about 25 minutes.
